Water aerobics

Water aerobics is a system of physical exercises in water. The performance of these exercises, associated with immersion in water, cooling the body, working with the pressure of water on it, causes more vigorous work of the heart and all body systems, in the absence of shock loads on the human musculoskeletal system. Develops the buoyancy, coordination and strength abilities of those involved. It has a small number of contraindications.

Classes have a hardening effect. Water aerobics practitioners spend more calories, as they require additional energy to heat their bodies (water cools them down much more than air), overcome water resistance, and maintain their position in the water. You can consume up to 700 calories per hour of classes.

This is a great load for those who want to lose weight. Even overweight people can handle exercising in the water, as their body weight in the water decreases significantly.

Water aerobics allows you to relieve the spine, which experiences increased stress during pregnancy. After exercising in water, the muscles do not feel overstressed, as constant massage with water lowers their lactic acid levels. Those engaged in water aerobics do not experience unpleasant sensations associated with overheating due to the cooling properties of water.

Even people who cannot swim can practice water aerobics, as in most cases classes are held at a depth of chest-deep or in special equipment. Water exercises are used both for health and therapeutic purposes in many diseases of the central nervous system, diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, such as osteochondrosis, arthrosis.

Water aerobics classes can be attended by people who are contraindicated in gym classes with diseases such as varicose veins of the lower extremities, overweight, osteochondrosis, osteoporosis and metabolic polyarthritis, and other diseases.

Advantages:

  • Low stress on the joints. Exercising in the water reduces stress on the joints and spine, which makes water aerobics ideal for people with arthritis, injury, or overweight.

  • Improvement of the cardiovascular system. Water aerobics helps strengthen the heart and blood vessels, improving blood circulation and increasing endurance.

  • Increased muscle tone. Water creates resistance, which makes the muscles work harder, which helps to strengthen and tighten the body.

  • Reduce stress and improve mood. The aquatic environment has a relaxing effect, reducing stress levels and improving overall well-being.

  • Improved flexibility and coordination. Exercises in the water promote the development of flexibility and coordination of movements.

  • Suitable for all ages and training levels. Water aerobics is available for both beginners and experienced athletes, as well as for the elderly.
